Fractals

September 13, 2012

I’ve had an interesting conversation with a physiotherapist about fractals, fractal dynamics to be precise. The word was entirely new to me, but it applies as much to his treatment approach as to nature in general.

I am unable to reproduce his explanation other than as the recognition of endless patterns in ever smaller sizes, and the wonderful results he is having with his patients.

The pattern similarities rang a bell with me as I often wonder why certain tree leaves look so much like feathers, or vice-versa, and with this question in mind I had taken a picture of a dove feather next to a sweet chestnut leaf earlier that day.

‘Fractals!’ he said again. Food for thought.
